About the project
PROJECT TITLE: Roots Outdoor Community Centre
LOCATION: Salford
FUNDING: Awarded £40,000 in Round Six of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund
DELIVERED BY: Take Action Together CIC
The idea
Roots Outdoor Community Centre will transform three outdoor spaces at the Broughton Trust’s Heath Avenue site into inclusive, nature-rich community zones.
We’ll create a Skills Garden for hands-on training, a Forest School area for creative learning, and a revitalised allotment with a sensory garden, wild planting, and a converted container classroom.
The project will support wellbeing, connection, and skills development for local residents of all ages.
Volunteers will be trained and paid to maintain the site post-project, ensuring long-term sustainability.
This is a community-led, partnership-powered project to grow skills, space, and belonging in the heart of Broughton.
