Project Idea #1: Getting Crafty in the Garden

Funding Required: £3,219

Summary:
The project is "Getting Crafty in the Garden", engaging 8 attendees with meaningful arts and craft activities over five weeks, and week 6 for a celebration event. Qualified practitioners will demonstrate the activities and guide the attendees to make their own individual and collective masterpieces.

In week 1 and 2, participants will collect willow stems, prepare them for weaving baskets and create their own basket to take home or for gifting.

Week 3's topic is the popular "Mindful Mandalas" where natural items will be collected and geometric patterns and designs will be created individually and by the group. Photographs of the mandalas will be taken and professionally printed as greeting cards.

Week 4 is prepare, up-cycle and reuse old planters for the community plot's vertical garden. All items will be cleaned and the surfaces ready for decorating with natural drawings. Reclaimed timber will be used to modify existing wooden pallets to create practical planting space for sustainable growing of herbs and flowers.

Week 5 involves planting the containers with sensory plants including herbs and ornamentals to see, smell, touch, taste and hear.

Week 6 will be the celebration event, where attendees can invite friends and family to see their achievements. Refreshments and ambient music selections will be available. Greeting cards and the willow baskets created may be gifted to other attendees, families and friends and/or taken home for keepsakes. Demonstration baskets will be planted and displayed in the community plot.
