Project Idea #1: Green Walk Leaders
Funding Required: £5,000
Summary:
This project will train community members from underrepresented backgrounds to become volunteer walk leaders, delivering regular, inclusive nature walks in local parks and green spaces. Funding will support training, equipment and coordination to help residents safely access nature, improve wellbeing and build long-term community capacity.
Resources Needed:
• Accredited walk leader training (10 people) – £2,000
• First aid and safeguarding training – £800
• Hi-vis vests, basic equipment and printed guides – £700
• Volunteer expenses and refreshments – £1,000
• Project coordination and monitoring – £500
Anticipated Measurable Outcomes:
• 10 community walk leaders trained
• 30 guided walks delivered over 6 months
• At least 300 residents engaged
• 80% of participants report improved wellbeing and confidence using green spaces
Project Idea #2: Nature for Wellbeing Programme
Funding Required: £15,000
Summary:
A year-long programme of facilitated nature-based wellbeing sessions for women, young people and older residents from marginalised communities. Sessions will combine gentle physical activity, environmental learning and mental wellbeing support, helping people build confidence, reduce isolation and reconnect with local green spaces.
Resources Needed:
• Qualified session facilitators (48 sessions) – £6,000
• Venue hire for indoor briefing spaces – £2,000
• Transport support for participants – £2,000
• Materials and equipment (activity packs, learning resources) – £1,500
• Multilingual information materials – £1,000
• Project coordination, monitoring and reporting – £2,500
Anticipated Measurable Outcomes:
• 48 nature-based wellbeing sessions delivered
• 400 participants engaged over 12 months
• 70% report reduced stress and improved mental wellbeing
• 75% report increased confidence accessing green spaces independently
Project Idea #3: Community Climate Champions
Funding Required: £30,000
Summary:
This project will recruit and train local Climate Champions to lead community action on environmental issues such as waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency and climate resilience. Champions will deliver workshops, create multilingual resources and support families to adopt practical, sustainable behaviours at home.
Resources Needed:
• Climate Champion training programme (20 people) – £6,000
• Workshop delivery costs (60 sessions) – £8,000
• Multilingual environmental resources (design, print, translation) – £4,000
• Community events and engagement activities – £4,000
• Monitoring, evaluation and data collection – £3,000
• Project management and coordination – £5,000
Anticipated Measurable Outcomes:
• 20 trained Climate Champions
• 60 community workshops delivered
• 800 residents engaged
• 70% of participating households adopt at least one sustainable behaviour
• Increased awareness of recycling, energy efficiency and climate resilience
